Abstract The basic for developing the combination machine is doing to strip seed-bed preparation and planting in one pass. The mechanical planter has been developed by constructing and attaching seedbed preparation units to be used as a combination machine for strip seed-bed preparation and planting in rows. The seed-bed preparation units are two rows of chisel unit followed by two units of rotary plow. The chisel shanks and rotary plow has been supported with the main frame of the combination unit. But the mechanical planter has been fixed through a hitch points. Results: The energy requirements when using the combination machine for strip seedbed preparation and planting without operating the rotary units increased from 19.882 to 40.813 MJ.feddan-1 and increased from 36.45 to 62.307 MJ.feddan-1 as the operating speed increased from 0.44 to 0.94 m.s-1 at adjustable chiseling depths of 17 cm and 22 cm respectively. |
