Abstract

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Genetic and environmental factors play important role in its pathogenesis and progression Aim of the work: To study the frequency of association of PON1 gene polymorphism and risk of coronary artery diseases. This could help in better understanding of molecular basis and pathogenesis of coronary artery disease. Methods :5ml blood after fasting for 12 hours were collected for DNA extraction then PCR then estimate PON1 concentration by ELISA technique also lipid profile was done for all patients and control groups Results:There is association between PON1 gene polymorphism Q192R and coronary artery diseases,The concentrationof serum Pon1 is higher in control group than in patient group Conclusion: There is association between PON1 gene polymorphism Q192R and coronary artery diseases, There is no correlation between genotyping and lipid profile.
