Abstract

The main purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate what the critical discourse analysis of translation studies can offer, as well as to provide a better understanding of the complex political scene in our increasingly globalized world. Translation Studies have always been a great and valuable source of critical discourse analysis, especially political discourse. Both translation studies and critical discourse analysis have a special and strong connection because of their common roots related to the umbrella of applied linguistics. In order to arrive at the essence of this distinct relationship between these two disciplines, it is important to begin from birth or existence as separate relationships away from applied linguistics. The study will then follow this relationship between the dam and the two-step translation studies. First, the trait that connects the analysis of the political discourse of translation studies will be through the analysis of source and objective texts in relation to their social rhetoric practices. The second step is to explain how a series of political speeches can lead to a comprehensive knowledge of the value of translation studies by analyzing a selection of different versions of English translations of some political speeches.
