Abstract For the importance of early detection and prevention of OC , an observational cross section study was done to assess the awareness of most of dentists in three governorates in upper Egypt (Minia, assuit and sohage) After calculating the appropriate sample size, 424 questionnaires were done. But out of them 24 have been excluded as their data was incomplete. These data was collected from 95 health care facilities and about 84 questionnaires were obtained from two scientific days in Minia and in another two scientific days in Sohage about 37 questionnaires were included. The study was conducted according to the regulations of research ethical committee of faculty of dentistry, Minia University. Each questionnaire was associated with informed consent for reassuring the participants about the confidentiality of their information Face-to-face interview method was selected for data collection in the current survey. Data was statistically analyzed by a compatible computer using software called SPSS for windows version 13.Graphics were done by Excel Microsoft Office 2007. The response rate in this was 94.3%. The overall knowledge level in the current study was 31.8%. Regarding the practice, small number of dentists (37.5%) reported that performing routine oral examination during visits which denoted a practice. In general, the attitude of respondents in the current study considered being favorable and nearly about half of the participants had favorable attitude. There was a statistically significant difference of knowledge level among dentists in relation to their age, years of experience, last scientific degree and hours of work. There is positive proportional relationship between all of these demographic variables and the level of knowledge of participants. |
