Abstract

The present study was carried out to study the effect of somatic cell
count on quality of fluid milk and its products
A total of one hundred and fifty ( 75 each from Holstein Friesian cows and 75 buffaloes) raw milk samples were collected from different dairy farms at Dakahlia Governorate,Egypt . Each sample was mixed thoroughly before being divided into three parts .
• The first was examined for screening and cytological examination .
• The second for chemical examination .
• The last one was used for bacteriological examination .
The object of this study to for determination the effect of somatic cell count on fluid milk by estimating somatic cell count, analysing milk composition parameters (Fat, Protein, Lactose and Solide Not Fat) and investigating the prevalence of some Mastitis Pathogens as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae and E.coli in raw milk by conventional methods .
Subclinical mastitis cause increasing of SCC and this elevation affect negatively on quality and quantity of fluid milk (Fat, Protein, Lactose and Solide Not Fat) and dairy products.
Finally, the hygienic measurements must be supported in the dairy farm to avoid the problem before its existence and to produce milk of good quality and quantity to be healthy for human consumption.
