Abstract Sixty samples from breast muscles and liver of broilers, layers, ducks, geeze, turkeys and quails (5 samples, each) were randomly collected from Zagazig city, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt for heavy metals estimation by using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). In addition to, estimation of the dietary intake and the potential risk assessment of the examined heavy metals for adults through consumption of both muscle and liver tissues of layers, broilers, ducks, geese, turkeys and quails. Heavy metals measured, maximum permissible limit and estimated daily intake: Generally, all the evaluated liver samples from layers, broilers, ducks, geese, turkeys and quails samples had a higher burden of all the estimated heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Pb, Zn and Hg) than the muscle samples of the same poultry. Zinc recorded the highest existence in all estimated samples. While, the Cd element had the lowest residual concentrations. 1. Copper (Cu): The results revealed that the mean concentration of Cu element of was 0.08±0.02, 0.04±0.02, 0.31±0.04, 0.29±0.12, 0.13±0.12 and 0.10±0.05 ppm in muscle samples and 0.18±0.03, 0.21±0.03, 1.07±0.22, 5.72±1.05, 0.26±0.08 and 0.15±0.05 ppm in liver samples of layers, broilers, ducks, geese, turkeys and quails, respectively. |
