Abstract
This study was carried out for 20 patients admitted to the Plastic Surgery Department at Alexandria Main university hospital to undergo hair transplantation since September 2017.
The aim of the study was to assess the different applications of follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique for hair transplantation.
Regarding the age of patients in our study, It ranged from 25 to 55 year with a mean age of 35.15± 8.87 years. 90% of the patients were males (18 patients) and 10% were females (2 patients).
Regarding the technique; in each patient, follicular units were extracted from the scalp using a modified SAFE system developed by Dr Jim Harris using a dull punch of 0.9 mm diameter. After follicular units were processed, multiple holes were created in the recipient site using a 18/20/23 G needle. Follicular units were implanted in these holes using a fine tipped angled jeweler forceps.
