Abstract

The aim of our study was to evaluate the agreement between IOP measurements obtained with the ORA and GAT in patients who underwent penetrating keratoplasty and investigate the influence of biometric characteristics of the graft, including central graft thickness, mean keratometry, astigmatism, and size, as well as CH and CRF, on these measurements.
IOP using the GAT IOP (GAT), CH, CRF, Goldmann- correlated IOP (IOPg), cornea-compensated IOP (IOPcc) using the ORA, and central graft thickness (CGT) were measured in 30 eyes undergoing PKP.
In this cross-sectional comparative study, a total of 30 consecutive eyes having undergone PK were recruited for this study. Of these eyes, 25 eyes had suffered from keratoconus, and approximately 5 of the eyes had herpes simplex and corneal scars from burns or trauma.
The mean CGT, CH, and CRF were 532.43±30μm, 8.52±1.81mmHg, and 8.56±1.59mmHg respectively. Mean IOP (GAT), IOPg, and IOPcc were 11.88±3.66, 14.64±4.08, and 17.27±4.60mmHg, respectively. The 95% limit of agreement between IOP (GAT) and IOPg ranged from 2.39 to 3.29mmHg, and for IOPcc and IOP (GAT) ranged from 4.7 to 6.2mmHg. No significant association was found between CGT and IOP readings. According IOP (GAT), there was significant negative association with CH. According IOPcc, there was significant negative association with CH and mean keratometry. According IOPg, there was significant positive association with CRF. Following PKP, graft biomechanics had more influence on IOP values than anatomical features. In comparison to the GAT, the ORA yielded higher IOP values.
