Abstract

The present study was carried out at two parts. Where, part 1 was carried out under lyzometer condition and part 2 was carried out at field experience of Sakha Agricultural Research Station during the two successive winter seasons of 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 to find out the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers levels on the growth, yield and its components as well as technological characters of some flax cultivars under saline soil conditions. Lyzometer experiment: study, Sakha 3 cultivar significantly surpassed other studied flax cultivars and produced the highest values of crop growth rate , relative growth rate , fiber yield per plant and per feddan, fiber length, total fiber percentage , fiber fineness, straw yield per plant and straw yield per fad. in both seasons. Meanwhile, Giza 11 cultivar significantly superior other studied cultivars and resulted in the highest values of plant height , dry weight and leaf area dm2/plant of flax plant after 102 and 123 days from sowing (DFS), net assimilation, stem diameter, technical length, length of fruiting zone, number of capsules/plant, 1000-seed weight, number of seeds/plant, seed yield per plant and per fed. in both seasons. However, Sakha 5 cultivar significantly surpassed other studied flax cultivars and produced the highest values of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b , Total chlorophyll mg g-1 fresh weight and seed oil content. All studied characters of flax gradually increased as a result of increasing nitrogen fertilizer levels nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers levels from 45 kg N + 15.5 kg P2O5/fed to 55 kg N + 22.5 kg P2O5/fed, except fiber fineness in both seasons. All studied characters of flax gradually decreased as a result of increasing salinity levels from 2 dsm-1 to 8 dsm-1 in both seasons. It was evident that, under the environmental conditions of this study, maximum means of all studied characters were produced from 2 dsm-1 salinity level in the first and second seasons. Field experiment: Under conditions of this study, Sakha 3 cultivar significantly surpassed other studied flax cultivars and produced the highest values of crop growth rate , relative growth rate , net assimilation, fiber yield per plant and per fed, fiber length, total fiber percentage , fiber fineness and straw yield per fad. in both seasons. Meanwhile, Giza 11 cultivar significantly superior other studied cultivars and resulted in the highest values of plant height , dry weight and leaf area dm2/plant of flax plant after 60, 81, 102 and 123 days from sowing (DFS), stem diameter, straw yield per plant, technical length, length of fruiting zone, number of capsules/plant, 1000-seed weight, number of seeds/plant, seed yield per plant and per fed. in both seasons. However, Sakha 5 cultivar significantly surpassed other studied flax cultivars and produced the highest values of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b , Total chlorophyll mg g-1 fresh weight and seed oil content. All studied characters of flax gradually increased as a result of increasing nitrogen fertilizer levels nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers levels from 45 kg N + 15.5 kg P2O5/fed to 55 kg N + 22.5 kg P2O5/fed, except fiber fineness and fiber percentage in both seasons.
