المستخلص

The study aimed to determine the nature of the correlation relationship between self-determination skills and quality of life in a sample of hearing impairment adolescents, and to Identify differences in both self-determination skills and quality of life according to (gender, degree of hearing loss, communication mode, and parental educational level). The study sample consisted of (100) adolescents. The adolescents` age ranged from (14 - 19) years (male - female). The sample is divided according to gender to (47) males and (53) females, and is divided according to the degree of hearing loss to (45) deaf and (55) hard of hearing, and is divided according to communication mode to (55) sign language users and(45) users of sign language and spoken language together, and is divided according to parental educational level to (50) hearing impairment adolescents to parents with university parental educational level and (50) hearing impairment adolescents to parents with less parental educational level. The Self-determination skills and the quality of life scales (researcher’s preparation) have been applied, and the results of the study showed a Positive correlation between the scores of adolescents on the scale of the self-determination skills in its five dimensions, and their scores on the quality of life scale in its four dimensions, and the absence of statistical differences between males and females, and the existence of significant differences between the deaf and the hard of hearing for the hard of hearing, and sign language users and users of sign language and spoken language together for the benefit of users of the signal language and the spoken language together, and between adolescents to parents with university parental educational level and adolescents to parents with less parental educational level for the benefit of adolescents to parents with university parental educational level
