Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of preheating three different types of resin composite on microleakage of class V restorations immediately and delayed after 6 months aging. A standardized class V cavity was done on 120 human molars with occlusal enamel margin and cervical dentin margin. All the prepared teeth were assigned into 3 groups (n=40). group Z was restored with Nano filled resin composite, group C was restored with Nano ceramic resin composite and group T was restored with Nano hybrid resin composite. In each group the composite material was placed after preheating (H) (n=20) in half of the specimens using a heating device, the other half received non-heated resin composite (C). All specimens were thermocycled prior to microleakage testing. In each subgroup, Half of the specimens were tested immediately (I) (n=10), the remaining was tested after six months aging. The results of this study showed that this placement technique had no significance as belong to enamel margins for all specimens. But for dentin margins, specimens with preheated resin composite had reduced microleakage. from this study we can conclude that preheating of resin composite is a valuable technique for placement specially when dealing with dentin margins.
