Abstract Objectives: To investigate the effect of different antioxidants on bond strength of resin composite bonded to bleached enamel that was exposed to two different bleaching agents.materials and methods: A total of 110 maxillary incisors were used. A negative control (group A) of 10 teeth (no bleaching-no antioxidant) was assigned. The remaining teeth were divided into group B and group C of 50 teeth each. group B was bleached with 40% hydrogen peroxide and group C was bleached with 35% carbamide peroxide. Both groups were subdivided in to 5 subgroups of 10 teeth each. One of them is a positive control (bleaching without antioxidant) and the other 4 subgroups according to the type of antioxidant used. Antioxidants solutions (10% sodium ascorbate, 10% grape seed extract, 10% green tea extract and 5% alpha-lipoic acid) were applied for 10 min and rinsed. After resin composite build up, micro-shear bond strength test was performed by universal testing machine. Fracture analysis was examined using a stereomicroscope. Statistical analysis was performed using Two-Way ANOVA test followed by Post Hoc LSD test. |
