Abstract The present work deals with phytochemical studies for important plants under the title ”Structure Elucidation and Biological Evaluation of Active Chemical Constituents Isolated from Some Medicinal Plants’’. Artimisia sieberi (Asteraceae) and Moringa oleifera (leaves and seeds), fresh plants material were air dried and ground to fine powder. The ground materials were transferred to a suitable flask and soaked in MeOH-CH2Cl2 (1:1) for 24 hours at room temperature. The extracts were evaporated under reduced pressure to give an oily residue. The residue of Artimisia sieberi was submitted for fractionation by column chromatography on silica gel eluted with nhexane and dichloromethane, then with dichloromethane–methanol, with increasing polarity. Repeated column chromatography (CC) over silica gel using CH2Cl2–EtOAc and CH2Cl2–MeOH mixtures and TLC over silica gel using the preceding mixtures, to give pure compounds. The purities of all isolates (> 95.0%) were analyzed by HPLC. The structures of the isolated compounds were confirmed using (EI-MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT, 1H1H COSY, HMQC and HMBC) and compared with literature data. |
