Abstract

organizations depend on human resources to accomplish the goals of the organization efficiently, which obligates the organizations management to care for employees and create a climate organizational environment for employees which is one of the most important elements of its ability to instill confidence in the employees of the organization and their colleagues and supervisors. Aim: The present study aimed at identifying the relationship between organizational trust and organizational commitment among nurses. Design: Descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: This study was carried out in all departments at two hospitals affiliated to the ministry of health in Port Said city namely: Gynecology and obstetrics and El-Nasr hospitals. Subject: This study were included all nurses who working in the all inpatient units aforementioned setting during the time of data collection with a total number of (175) nurses. Tool of date collection: Two tools were used namely, organizational trust questionnaire and organizational commitment questionnaire. Results: Third of nurses were had low and moderate level of trust. While near of quarter had high level of organizational trust. Also, the majority of them had low level of commitment. Conclusion: There was highly statistically significant positive correlation between total organizational trust and total organizational commitment among nurses. Recommendations: Enhance nurse’s commitment (i.e. identification of nurses with the job they are doing) through job design process which aim to create higher level of commitment. Also, researchers may test in future studies the effectiveness of programs or interventions to increase organizational trust and commitment.
