Abstract

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most commonly diagnosed solid cancer in men, with 220,800 estimated new cases and 27,540 estimated deaths in the United States recorded in 2015. Obesity considered as one of the most important metabolic abnormalities that increases the risk of coronary artery disease, cardiovascular atherosclerotic diseases, diabetes mellitus-type 2 and cancer. Fatty acid binding protein 4(FABP4) can be used as a potential diagnostic and prognostic tool for Prostate cancer. The clinical data include age, body mass index, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, total prostate–specific antigen, free prostate–specific antigen and fatty acid binding protein 4. In addition to histopathological examination for samples taken by biopsy.Fatty acid binding protein 4(FABP4) has high sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy for prostate cancer than PSA where FABP4 has AUC: 0.75, sensitivity: 92% and specificity: 52% in comparison to AUC: 0.8, sensitivity: 72% and specificity: 84% for total PSA.
