Abstract The corneal endothelium acts as a barrier between the anterior chamber and the corneal stromal. If this barrier function is damaged during cataract surgery, swelling of the cornea will occur. The development of new surgical phaco techniques is aimed at restoring visual acuity (VA) in order to secure a fast return to normal social life and work. This study was conducted at Ophthalmology Department, Suez Canal University Hospital, Ismailia, Egypt in 2018. The study included thirty two (32) eyes of 32 participants. Sixteen (16) eyes were myopic patients and sixteen (16) eyes were hyperopic patients .We evaluated in this study the corneal endothelium cell count in myopic and hyperopic patients before phacoemulsification, after surgery one week and one month. |
