Abstract

Surface active agents are considered as important compounds which have important applications in various industrial fields. In addition to participate in the formulation of emulsions and phase transfer catalysis, surface active agents are used as corrosion inhibitors for different metals in the corrosive media. Also, they are used as scale inhibitor to inhibit calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate scale deposition in petroleum fields. Furthermore, they are used as biocides to inhibit or kill the growth of bacteria and fungi. Additionally, the biocides, corrosion and mineral scale formation have a great predicament effects on both economic and production scale. For these reasons, fighting the bacteria and fungi, iron corrosion, and scale deposition by using chemical additives such as, inhibitors have become very interesting and important to mitigate their severity. The quantum chemical calculations and molecular dynamic simulations are used to study the corrosion inhibition efficiency of the prepared tricationic surfactants This study aimed to prepare the trimeric cationic surfactants and characterized. They showed good corrosion inhibition, scale inhibition, antimicrobial activity tests against different microorganisms and biocidal activity against sulfur reducing bacteria.
