Abstract
One of the most important problems is to construct on soft clay soil, which extends in many areas in Egypt and all over the world. Construction on such soil requires the use of deep foundations. In most cases the applied vertical load on piles are satisfied.However, in many cases, the lateral capacity is not satisfied. Thus, there is a need to enhance the lateral behaviour of the piles to serve many problems in practice. This thesis is based on numerical analysis to investigate the effect of soil improvement techniques on increasing the lateral behaviour of single piles and pile groups embedded in soft clay.
