Abstract

Aim: Evaluation shaping ability and centering ratio of Xp-endo shaper with HyFlex CM and Sendoline S5 NiTI instruments during the preparation of moderately to severely curved root canals in extracted human molar teeth. Material and methods: Forty five mandibular first molars with mesio-buccal canals having angles of curvature ranging from 15° to 40° were divided into three groups according to the instrument used of 15 teeth each: group I (Sendoline S5), group II (HyFlex CM) and group III (Xp-endo shaper). All samples were scanned before and after mechanical preparation using CBCT. Canal transportation was evaluated at five levels (orifice, beginning, peak and end of curvature and 0.5 from the apex. Data were analysed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Tukey’s test, and significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: The use of Sedoline S5 resulted in significantly greater canal transportation than HyFlex CM and Xp-endo shaper (P < 0.05), with no significant differences between Hyflex CM and Xp endo shaper (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Under the conditions of this study, the thermo mechanically treated systems resulted in minimal canal transportation.
