Abstract Universal precautions (UPs) are designed to prevent healthcare staff being exposed to blood and body fluids. UP practices are important,as any health care organization has a responsibility to protect its staff from potential danger and itself from loss of man power if staff suffers occupational injuries or illnesses. Purpose of study: the purpose of present study was to: Examine the effect of a training program regarding practicing universal precaution measures for infection control among maternity nurses. Methods: Research Design: - Quasi experimental design. Tools: Three instruments were used throughout the program of study (I) interviewing questionnaire. (II) Assessment of knowledge toward infection control and its measures.(III) observation check list practice.Setting: The study will be conducted at obstetric & gynecological department in University hospital and shebin El-kom Teaching hospital.from January 2017 to the end of Jun 2017.Sample: Random Sample(100) was including assessing universal precaution of infection control.Results: Our data showed highly significant difference in nurse’s knowledge of universal precaution of infection control in pre intervention.after intervention the majority of nurse’s showed improvement of their knowledge regarding universal precaution of infection programConclusion: The use of educational program is effective in improving maternity nurses’ knowledge toward universal precaution of infection control. Recommendations Continuous training for Nurses in the hospital is essential to infuse the knowledge of standard precautions. |
