Abstract

Egypt faces a problem in the irrigation water resources because its water budget is fixed, and the propose of this investigation is finding the solutions, thustwo field experiments were carried out at a private farm located in Bohout Village, Nabaroh District, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, during the two successive summer seasons of 2012 and 2013 to investigate the effect of three different levels of applied irrigation water (100%, 80%, 60% from ETc) and five foliar applications of antitranspirants (kaolin 2%, CaCO3 2%, MgCO3 2%, Green miracle 3 ml.L-1 and Control) and their interactions on vegetative growth parameters (fresh and dry weights, plant length, No. of leaves and leaf area) leaf chemical constitutes ( N, P, K, total chlorophyll) , fresh fruit yield, seed yield and quality parameters of squash plants under clay soil conditions under drip irrigation system. The experimental design was a split plot design in a randomized complete block designwith three replicates for each treatment. According to the obtained results in this investigation, irrigation of squash plants cv. Eskandraniwith 100% from ETc and spraying with kaolin 2% and MgCO32% as antitranspirants application achieved higher fruitand seed yield compared to other treatments .but ,it is worth to mention that spraying squash plants by kaolin and irrigation with 80% from ETc gave better values of early, total yield of fresh fruits, seed yield and quality parameters than untreated plants under irrigation with 100% from ETc. So, the recommendation reported herein is irrigation of squash with 80% from ETc and spray with kaolin 2% and MgCO32% to save more irrigation water and gave good growth and seed quality parameters under the conditions of this study and when water supply decreased.
