Abstract

urrent treatment, and health care, and evidence based applications may speed up postoperative recovery, and decrease surgery-related deaths. One of the evidence-based applications which emerge in line with this thought, is “Enhanced Recovery After Surgery” (ERAS) protocol developed by ERAS Society. ERAS protocol may be described as, “to standardize surgical process by preventing surgeryrelated trauma which discloses psychological problems, and organ dysfunctions during surgery, and to provide the most possible treatment, and health care with resultant discharge of the patient as soon as possible Aim of the study: The present study aims to apply Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol for elective abdominal hysterectomy Subjects and Method Design: A quasi experimental research design was used. Setting : This study was conducted atGynecological surgery department, Mansoura New General Hospital from October 2017 to October 2018. Subjects A purposive sample of 60 participant women. Tools : Two tools were used to collect data for the study;Structured Interview Questionnaire : includes two parts : Part one : Patient’s General characteristics.Part two : includes two sections: Patient’s Obstetrics history; included parity, gravidity mode of previous delivery, abortion, and contraceptive methods.Patient’s medical history. Part two Patients’ length of stay in hospital after applying ERAS Protocol. The second tool: Patients’ satisfaction checklist after applying ERAS Protocol. The main finding of the study. The results showed that there is a significant relation between both groups regarding their satisfaction Finally; the results present the distribution of the studied patients according to length of hospital stay after applying ERAS protocol. It was observed that there is a significant relation between both groups regarding their length of hospital stay after applying ERAS protocol after applying ERAS protocol Recommendations: Further studies on ERAS and fast-track protocols are needed, focusing on evaluating patient-related outcomes, such as patient experience of the process, quality of life aspects and long-termconsequences.
