Abstract The study was conducted on ten goats and surgically incorporated into two stages. The first stage was to perform TMJ disc perforation under the arthroscopic guidance via an 18G needle on both TMJ discs. The left sides acted as a control group whereas the right sides acted as experimental group by injecting simvastatin hydrogel 5 mg/ml. the 2nd stage was after 4 weeks was to evaluate the healing in both groups using the modified Oswestry arthroscopic score. Euthanasia, then excision of all discs and evaluation of perforation macroscopically using modified International cartilage repair society score. And histological preparation and evaluation using modified O’driscol histological score. Comparing the evaluation scores using the SPSS programme 17 ed. Results revealed that the injected discs were having higher scores (means more healing) than the control group. |
