Abstract

The study was on the wild and cultivated Cyperus species which is a source of a lot of economic compounds. Cyperus species is one of the perennial plants that present in the entire world. It is considered the primary regulating herb in traditional Chinese medicine. The famous types of Cyperus and more find was cultivated species that has more nutritional value while the wild species was allelopathic plant spread in all fields and had a bad effect on production of the crops where it is difficult to get rid of.study was conducted to investigate the difference between the wild and cultivated species to determine the highly impacted species and highlighting on the importance of plant cultivation extension for medicinal and nutritional purposes in Egypt.Plants of wild (Cyperus rotundus) and cultivated (Cyperus esculents) were used in the present study. Wild plants were collected from the growing plants in the neglected area from Elgharbia governorate in Egypt. The cultivated plants were obtained from its fields in Kafer Elsheech in Egypt. The collected samples were washed by distilled water and were dried at 40 ºC in oven. The powder samples were reserved in plastic bags for analysis.
