Abstract Pregnancy, increase the possibility of developing VTE. The possibility of VTE throughout pregnancy and labor is great, and VTE is an essential etiology of pregnancy-related mortality. Superimposed on this risk, some additional risk factors which may either occur before the pregnancy or develop during the pregnancy or puerperium, and may be transient or persistent. These factors include history of thrombus development, Antiphospholipid syndrome, smoking, old age and overweight, however, VTE might occur in lack of these risk factors. The majority (coagulation /fibrinolysis) markers change throughout pregnancy and thus they cannot evaluate exactly the thrombotic incidence in pregnancy, as the proportion of false positive results is high, on the other hand Fibrin monomer complex (FMC) has become broadly accessible for DVT diagnosis. Because the rate of false positivity of FMC is much lower in comparison with other hemostatic markers, it could be a likely marker of thrombotic condition in pregnancy Recently it has been reported that soluble fibrin monomer complex could be used in VTE screening during normal pregnancy, however its evaluation in complicated pregnancies remains to be elucidated. |
