Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of ultrasound-guided ESPB on patients undergoing THA. 1. Materials and Methods In this study, a total of 90 cases diagnosed with total hip arthroplasty in Mansoura university hospitals, Results The results show a statistically significant reduction in hemodynamic changes (HR, MAP) in the ESPB group. Also, there was a significant reduction in intraoperative fentanyl consumption in the ESPB group. There was a significant decrease in VAS, significant reduction of total analgesic consumption and statistically significantly longer time to the 1st analgesic requirement in ESPB group than the control group. There were no reported complications in the two studied groups unless two patients experienced nausea and vomiting in the C group. Conclusion The L-ESPB is an effective regional anesthetic technique which can provide good postoperative analgesia after total hip arthroplasty.
