Abstract

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is the fifth most common cause of cancer in the developed countries females and comes in fourth-degree among cancer‐related death causes with a 5-year survival of 26% (stage IV) and 42% (stage III) according to International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging. Early diagnosis is difficult as the symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague and overlap with symptoms of much more common disorders such as dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, menstruation and menopause. Objectives: To investigate the possible association between ERCC2 rs238406 polymorphism and the risk of ovarian cancer development in Egyptian Female Patients. In addition, the association of this polymorphism with the different stages of ovarian cancer will be studied. Methods: Whole blood was obtained from all subjects of the study. DNA was isolated from blood samples. Genotyping of ERCC2 gene (rs238406) polymorphism was done by (PCR-RFLP).
