Abstract

Breast Cancer is the most frequent cancer among women. Early detection of breast cancer can effectively reduce the subsequent mortality and morbidity. BSE is an important tool for screening as well as mass awareness. Secondary school age represent an important period of life which named adolescence period. The ACS suggests that women should be provided information about benefits and limitations of BSE and use BSE only if they have no symptoms of breast cancer or are not at a considerably elevated danger for the disease. Educating young women (girls) about early diagnostic method of breast cancer is essential to increase their breast cancer awareness. Acquiring the behavior and practice of BSE at an early age will also increase the probability of continuing it later routinely and the community health nurses have a great role on this (Vasishta et al., 2018).This study was aimed to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of female secondary school students’ about breast self-examination. This was fulfilled through assessment of student’s knowledge regarding breast self-examination, assessing student’s attitude toward breast self-examination and finally assessing student’s reported practices of breast self-examination.The study was carried out using a descriptive design to conduct this study to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of female secondary school students’ about breast self-examination.
