Abstract

The uterus has an essential role in sperm migration, embryo implantation, and fetal nourishment. Congenital uterine anomalies may affect such uterine functions precluding successful pregnancy.
Congenital uterine anomalies, which include mullerian agenesis septate uterus, bicornuate uterus, unicornuate uterus ,DES drug related uterus (T-shaped) and uterus didelphys.
Ultrasound in gynecology has been used for the assessment of uterine morphology for more than three decades. The uterus can always be identified and the appearance of the uterine cavity and the myometrium can be analyzed in great details. The value of ultrasound for the diagnosis of congenital and acquired uterine pathological abnormalities is well known.
Three-dimensional ultrasound is a multiplanar simultaneous three axes sectional image displayed on the same screen. These three planes (frontal, sagittal and coronal) can be displayed anatomically and topographically layer by layer. Demonstration of the coronal view of the uterus enables to view fundal myometrium more clearly and thus allows more appropriate management for the patient based on better knowledge of the uterine shape.
This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out for 977 infertile women aged 18-45 year-old at Maternofetal clinic in Sohag government .
In the present study,It was noticed that (82.7%) females in the current study had normal 3D US findings and (17.3%) had abnormal findings ,so the prevalence of uterine congenital anomalies among infertile women in Sohag government was 17.3%. The most common congenital anomalies in our study was arcuate uterus present 50% of abnormal finding ,then then septate(36.7%) followed by unicornate(5.3%) and T-shaped and hypoplast uterus (2% each) ,lastly then didelphys and bicornate uterus (1.78% each).
TV3D ultrasound is an accurate and simple method to detect and classify congenital uterine anomalies and should become the first diagnostic step in the assessment of the uterine cavity.

We recommend TV3D to detect and classify uterine Mullerian anomalies as minimal invasive procedure.
We recommend furthermore study to discover relation between congenital uterine anomalies and congenital renal diseases .
We recommend furthermore study to discover relation between unicornate uterus and urogenital ridge anomalies .
CONCLUSION
TV3D ultrasound is an accurate and simple method to detect and classify congenital uterine anomalies and should become the first diagnostic step in the assessment of the uterine cavity.
Prevalence of uterine congenital anomalies in sohag government was 17.3%.
Most common type of uterine congenital anomalies was arcuate uterus.
Uterine congenital anomalies is associated with primary infertility.
