Abstract Congenital heart malformations are the most frequent of all major birth defects, with an estimated prevalence at birth of approximately 8-10 cases per 1000 births. Amongst congenital heart disease, pulmonary valve stenosis (PS) accounts for 10% of congenital heart diseases and is accompanied in approximately 20% of congenital heart disease cases. RV volume analysis by angiography has been reported previously and validated as reference compared by MRI. The present study was done to compare 3D-Echocardiographic RV volumes and RVEF by calculated angiographic parameters by computer-based program by single plane projection (30° RAO) that would improve the accuracy of RV volume and function analysis. Our study was designed to be cross sectional study that included twenty five patients in the pediatric age group (up to 18 years old) with Pulmonary valve stenosis referred to our congenital and structural heart disease unit cardiology department in Ain shams university hospital for balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty in the time interval between May 2019 and January 2020. Besides, volumes by both modalities are correlated well to each other with no significant correlation of RV ejection fraction. In conclusion, based on our study, real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3DE) can define RV volumes accurately. Data obtained from RT3DE were comparable with those obtained from angiography. |
