Abstract Adhesive capsulitis of shoulder is a painful condition in which the movement of the shoulder becomes limited associated with shoulder pain. Onset is gradual over weeks to months. It occurs mostly in patient older than 40 years old especially women. The cause in most cases is idiopathic .The condition can also occur after trauma, surgery or injury to the shoulder. Risk factors include stroke ,thyroid disease and diabetes mellitus. shoulder pain and limited range of motion is the common symptoms of Adhesive capsulitis of shoulder, Pain is usually aching or dull may be worse at night and with any movement. Adhesive capsulitis can be divided into three stages (The painful stage, The adhesive stage and The recovery stage). The use of dextrose Perineural injection therapy (PIT) as a normal composition of blood chemistry for treatment of Adhesive capsulitis of shoulder has gained popularity over the last several years. Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) is a palpation guided near nerve injection to stop the pain along superficial nerves by blocking them with buffered dextrose 5 % solution. Many chronic pain conditions persist and develop due to injury to specialized nerve fibers located just under the skin. Perineural Injection Therapy involves multiple small injections along the course of tender superficial nerves in the area of the patient’s pain with a small amount of buffered dextrose 5 %. |
