Abstract The thesis focuses on employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in studying both the Egyptian and American political speeches. It aims at exploring the intended ideologies and the critical linguistic aspects in the political speeches delivered by the Egyptian Presidents, Morsi delivered on 29th June, 2012 and his speech, ”One Year Accountability”, delivered on 26th June, 2013; Abdel Fattah El-Sisi delivered on 6th August, 2015 at the New Suez Canal inauguration ceremony and his speech on 31st January, 2015, at the New Suez Canal inauguration ceremony on 6th August, 2015 at Sinai attacks. The thesis is also concerned with analyzing the speeches of the American speeches of Barak Obama delivered to the Middle East and North Africa on 19th May, 2011, and the speech of Israel delivered on 21st, March, 2013. Donald Trump’s political speeches delivered in his presidential campaign on 16th, November, 2015, and his speech on 6th, December, 2017. Also, it reveals how these politicians use particular strategies for persuading their audience of their political goals to stay in power. |
