Abstract Spa is considered to be one of the fastest growing types of tourism market segment. Spa Industry continues to increase in terms of economic potential, demand and has led to create more spa-related enterprises. One of the most important enterprise kinds in the spa industry is spa hotels. The quality of some non-health services is just as important as the specific health services supply to ensure customer satisfaction and distinguish a hotel from its competitors. Spa management in Egyptian hotel industry requires an appropriate level of hospitality services to meet customer needs and thus to achieve customer satisfaction. A critical review of concepts and issues relating to spa hotel and hospitality services provide the basis for the development of a conceptual framework to identify the requirements of leisure in regard to spa services. Two sources of evidence were used to achieve the aim of this study and to address the objectives as well. These two sources are: self-administered questionnaires and face-to-face semi-structured interviews. The questionnaires were distributed to a sample of customers who visited spa hotels in order to investigate their inclination in regard to spa services. The interviews were conducted with spa managers to identify their problems of spa management from spa services, pricing and how they meet and achieve their demands. Since the spa management in the city hotels has not been investigated enough, the present research is required to state the correlation between the quality of service that provided and the level of customer satisfaction in such hotels in regards to spa services. The results showed that most important the price, safety, security procedures as well as the quick service provided by professional employees. Value-for- money, variety, quality of food items and food portion are considered as the most important attributes for visiting spas. The major contribution of this study is the development of a good practice model for spa hotel managers to better meet the varying demands and increasing the possibilities of satisfying the different customer groups. The model will support establishments in maximizing their profits. |
