Abstract

Concrete is the second most used material in the world after water. It’s the main component in the field of building, construction and restoration. One of the characteristics of concrete that makes it superior to other materials in the field of construction is its high compressive strength, durability and availability but large quantities of carbon dioxide (co 2 ) are produced during the cement industry process is a big issue. There is an annual increase in the cement industry estimated at 3%. 1.35 billion tons every year, which means about 7% of the total greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide emission) to the atmosphere produced through cement manufacturing, as the production of 1 ton of cement produces more than one ton of carbon dioxide. The world is facing the challenge of global warming and climate changes due to carbon dioxide (co 2 ) emissions, greenhouse gases and increment of co 2 concentration. According to current trends and development the industrial sector has a big challenge to maintain high quality of construction while ensuring low energy consumptions and co 2 emissions. There are solutions that have been suggested for the purpose of making environmental friendly concrete which are reducing natural resources, reducing the use of energy in cement industry to decrease carbon dioxide emissions Geopolymer concrete is produced by totally replacing the PC. Due to the absence of cement in Geopolymer mixtures many researchers believe that the Geopolymer concrete will be the future concrete. Most of previous researches relied on sodium compounds as an alkaline activator in the Geopolymer concrete(GPC) industry. The use of GPC remains limited in the construction field due to the difficulty in controlling the heat curing process on site. Therefore, it is frequently used in pre-cast concrete plants for easy curing control.
