Abstract This study aims at proposing a simulation model for improving the performance of the logistic part of supply chains in the Egyptian Holding Company for textile industry. However,a simulation model as such could be used for the same purpose in any other company or industry by generalizing it to include a suite of integrated modules. An experimental study was conducted on three companies of the Egyptian Holding Company for textile industry as a foundation of such general model, and to help managers in decision making and in understanding the different effects of different policies, by using what if analysis. Also determining the optimum combination of suppliers which minimizes the total cost of supply chain logistics. The model has been built using Genetic Algorithm(GA)Tools based optimization technique. It includes integrated four modules, each of which represents one stage of the whole model, i.e.; transportation, inventory, operations, and selling processes. Each module calculates the cost of its stage, and total cost of the model is aggregated at the end. |
