Abstract

Aim:emergency management of traumatic dental injuries in Primary Anterior teeth.
Methods: Study sample included 258 intern from Cairo University and 242 interns from MSA University, The questionnaires were collected over an 8 month period starting from July 2018 up till February 2019.A four-part questionnaire was distributed among a total of 500 intern dentists. Part 1 consisted of 8 questions focusing on personal and professional information, part 2 consisted of 7 close-ended questions (multiple choices), Part 3 consisted of 9 close-ended questions to assess the attitude of intern dentists, and part 4 consisted of 4 close-ended questions related to assessment of practice of intern dentists regarding traumatic dental injuries in permanent anterior teeth in children. Results: In the present study, age, gender, university of graduation, year of graduation, training for dental emergency, their knowledge on dental emergency management, their need for future education, and ability to provide proper action when needed did not have any impact on adequacy of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of intern dentists. Also ,intern dentists showed inadequate level of knowledge regardless of university of graduation. Most of intern dentists are not qualified enough to manage traumatic dental injuries of primary teeth, and some have very weak and insufficient knowledge about the emergency management of this situation.
