Abstract The continued growing in agricultural activities in east El Minia areas has consequently increased the water demands. Consequently, in order to meet these demands, groundwater exploration, exploitation and evaluation are focused. The present study is therefore conducted to give an insight on the geomorphological, geological, hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical settings of the study area. It also deals with the effective factors on the development of water resources in the study area. The study area occupies an area of 6288 km2. It lies between longitudes 30° 44 ̀ 35 ̏ E and 32° 27 ̀ 45 ̏ E and latitudes 27° 55 ̀ 40 ̏ N and 28° 38 ̀ 4 ̏ N. It is characterized by arid to semi-arid, hot climate, rainless in summer with rare precipitation in winter. According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, El Minia station (1982-2017), the average annual rainfall value for the last 36 years ranged from 0 to 3.9 mm/year. and the annual average air temperature is about 22.04 oC, whereas the annual average relative humidity at daytime is 35% and the mean winds velocity riches average about 16.7 Km/hour. |
