Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare clinically and radiographically between immediate dental implant placement using socket shield technique with and without Platelet rich fibrin placement. Patients and Methods: 20 patients were selected for prosthetic replacement of non-restorable maxillary single rooted tooth by dental implant with age range 21-55 and mean age of 26 and divided randomly into two equal groups. group I: patients have undergone socket shield technique and, group II: patients have undergone socket shield technique with usage of platelet rich fibrin. Clinical evaluation of the peri-implant probing depth, sulcus bleeding index and implant stability using Ostell device at 3, 6 and 12 months were done. Radiographic evaluation of the bone loss using cone-beam computed tomography after 12 months follow up period was done and statistical analysis were applied. Result: All the implants were osseointegrated successfully. Clinically Considering the peri-implant probing depth, sulcus bleeding index and the implant stability results have been statistically insignificant between the two groups. Radiographically, results indicated that bone loss has insignificant changes between the two groups. Conclusion: within the limitation of this clinical study it was concluded that: the socket shield technique for immediate implant placement is considered a valuable treatment modality. The using of Platelet rich fibrin in conjunction with socket shield technique has no significant effect on the soft tissue and bone healing.
