Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of immediate dentin sealing with different SE adhesive systems on the µTBS of self-adhesive resin cement to dentin and investigate the nanoleakage pattern after time. Materials and Methods: One hundred sound human molars were assigned into five groups of 20 teeth each. The specimens in the first group didn’t receive immediate dentin sealing and tested as a negative control. The remaining four groups received immediate dentin sealing using two-step SE adhesive system as a positive control (CLEARFIL™ LINER BOND F), one-step HEMA-containing SE adhesive (OptiBond™ All-In-One), one-step HEMA-free SE adhesive (G-ænial™ Bond) and one-step with desensitizing agent SE adhesive (GLUMA® Self Etch). Resin composite block was built up incrementally using a plastic mold of 4 mm height, 7 mm length and 5 mm width Every group was subdivided according to water aging into 24h and 6-month subgroups (n=10). from each subgroup, 8 specimens were subjected to µTBS test using universal testing machine. The remaining two specimens from each subgroup were used for nanoleakage expression by SEM. Results: A statistically significant difference (p<0.001) was found between all the variables and between the mean values of µTBS for immediate and delayed water storage in each group. CLEARFIL™ LINER BOND F revealed the highest µTBS, the lowest percent of change after water aging and the least silver deposition for nanoleakage expression compared to the other groups. Conclusions: Immediate dentin sealing provided better µTBS of self-adhesive resin cement to dentin. Two-step SE adhesive system expressed better µTBS compared to one-step SE adhesives. Water storage negatively affected the µTBS of self-adhesive resin cement to sealed and non-sealed dentin.
