Abstract Risks and Precipitating Factors among Hemodialysis Patients at Mansoura University Hospital. Dissertation Abstract Introduction: Intradialytic hypotension and intradialytic hypertension are a well-recognized HD complication, occurring in 10-70% and 5-15% of sessions, respectively depending on the definition. Aim of the study: To detect intradialytic blood pressure dysregulation (IDBPD) risks and precipitating factors among HD patients at Mansoura University Hospital. Subjects and Method: This study evaluated 52 ESRD patients on regular HD attending at Mansoura Nephrology and Dialysis Unit (mean age 43.10 ± 14.80 years, 61.5% males) observed for three months. Patients suffering from organ decompensation were excluded from the study. The study tool was developed by the researcher after reviewing the related recent national and international literature. The main finding of the study: This study revealed that sessions of female patient background hypotension, high UF rate, sessions of patients with high intradialytic salt, protein and fat intake, patients with high transferrin saturation, and patients with high skin fold thickness are significantly associated with occurrence of IDH. Concerning IDHTN, sessions of female patients, patients with background hypertension, and sessions of patients who consumed meals containing high salts are associated with occurrence of IDHTN. Recommendations: The nurses and medical team should be aware of all possible risk factors and proper way of treatment. |
