Abstract Adulteration of animals feed, dairy milk products and infant formula by melamine in order to increase the protein value because of high nitrogen content in its formula have lead researchers to developing detection techniques for monitoring the levels of melamine which causes renal stones formation, kidney failure and led to sudden death in some cases epically in infants. In this study we present the nanoparticles quantum dot as a simple and accurate method for detection of melamine in the milk using nanoparticles of silver, gold, nano magnetite and magnetite silicon dioxide core shell. The spectroscopic characterizations were carried out using ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The results obtained illustrated that the nano gold and silver were significant as colorimetric sensors. Magnetite NPs and magnetite core shell has a significant effect in adsorption of melamine by measuring the absorption and fluorescence intensities before and after magnetization. |
