The aim of the present case control study was to assess the risk factors of suicide in sample of MDD patients in comparison with non-suicide major depressive disorder subjects through a case control study done in Alexandria University hospitals.
For every participant of current study a, data collection done by completing questionnaire divided in three parts: a translated demographical data, Arabic validated version of Hamilton depressing rating scare and validated Arabic version of Columbia–suicide severity rating scale (CSSRS).then followed by sampling blood for analysis to consider random TSH and morning serum cortisol.
The collected data were analyzed using Chi-square test (X2), Monte carlo test (MCp), Fisher Exact test (FEp), Mann Whitney test (Z).
The overall results of this study showed that:
• Considering gender there are 7 male and 13 participants for each group of current study.
• The mean (± SD) ages were 27.95±9.17 years for group I subjects and 33.50±11.63 years for group II respectively.
• Marital status in group I versus group II; single 9(45%) versus 6 (30%) group II; married 11 (55%) versus 11 (55%); divorced/separated 0 versus 3 (15%) participants. This factor was not associated with statistical difference (P=0.245).
