Abstract

Azoospermia is the most severe expression of male factor infertility where no sperm is present in the ejaculate.
Azoospermia is classified into obstructive and non-obstructive, in obstructive cases spermatogenesis is normal but there is obstruction of seminal ducts, while in non-obstructive cases there is defective or absent spermatogenesis.
Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) and intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) offer the azoospermic patients the possibility of fathering their own children, even in the absence of normal spermatogenesis.
Failed TESE has important emotional and financial implications which emphasize the importance of determining those factors predictive of successful TESE.
This study was targeted to evaluate miRNA-204 expression level in non-obstructive azoospermic patients and its relation to clinico-pathological parameters.
