Abstract One of the most common complications after spinal anesthesia for cesarean section (CS) is maternal hypotension. Post-spinal hypotension (PSH) occurs in many patients during CS. Unfortunately, it causes several adverse events for mother and fetus, these can be managed by vasopressors .Vasopressors maintain a systolic blood pressure of ≥ 90mmhg and prevent a decrease to < 20% baseline MAP. Alpha-agonist drugs are the most effective medications in this case. Whereas various vasopressors with a minimal beta-agonist activity may be even better. A strong alpha-adrenergic agonist phenylephrine has been used as the drug of choice to control blood pressure during operations, but it caused reflex bradycardia and decreased cardiac output. This necessitates searching for other alternatives. |
