Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a common condition which affects most elderly men causing health, economic and social problems. Five alpha reductase therapy and alpha blocker therapy both are well established medical treatment of BPH with known efficacy and tolerability in term of disease progression and need for surgical treatment, however still large percentage of patient will fail medical treatment or develop complication that require surgical treatment. TURP is still the gold standard surgical treatment with established efficacy regarding improving LUTs and other BPH related complications. TURP has intraoperative and post-operative complication especially perioperative bleeding that may interfere with the other parameters of outcome of TURP procedure and so, many advances and technical modifications introduced to decrease TURP related morbidities and improve outcome of the procedure.
