Abstract

This study involved sixty-three female patients, their age ranged between twenty-five and thirty-five years old. The participants were recruited from the Unit of obstetrics and gynecology in Women health hospital, Assiut university during the period from June 2019 to October 2019. The patients divided into 2 groups: group 1 Thirty-one fertile healthy females with no history of pelvic inflammatory diseases, (Control group) with matched age, group2 Thirty-three female infertile patients evidenced by laparoscopic examination to have endometriosis. group 2 were sub classified according to the stage of the disease according to Revised American Society for Reproductive Medicine Classification of Endometriosis (rASRM.,1996) Into 2 groups; group2A: Eighteen infertile patients diagnosed as mild endometriosis, group2B: fifteen fertile patients diagnosed as moderate and severe endometriosis. All patients were subjected to the following: 1-Routine investigations: Complete blood count, Glucose, Kidney function tests, PT, Hormonal profile FSH, LH, PRL, Progesterone, Estrogen. 2-Special investigation: Flow cytometric analysis of natural killer cells, their natural cytotoxicity receptors (Nkp46) and their cytoplasmic contents of perforin and granzyme B and analysis of NK inhibitory receptor CD159A. The following results were found: Mild statistical significant increase in total percent of NK in Group2 compared to Group1with p value 0. 027. No significant difference detected in T cell percentage, absolute lymphocytic count between the same groups. Mild statistical significant increase in the percent of NK CD56+bright NK cells in Group2B compared to group 1 with p value0. 016, but no significant difference between group2A and group 1. Also, no significant difference between group 2A&2B as the p value 0. 174. There was no significant difference in CD3 cells Tcells, Total Nk cell percent, NkCD 56+dim cells in the same groups. There was highly statistical significant decrease in percentage of NKp46 in group 2 compared to group 1 with p value<0. 0001. Regarding other receptors as CD159a, perforin and granzyme it was noticed that there was no significant difference between different stages of the disease& control casesThere was negative correlation between total NK percent &Nkp46 activity.
