Abstract Ovarian cancer is one of the common and most lethal malignant tumors, usually late and the patient is presented at an advanced stage, Monitoring of ovarian carcinoma cases with several biomarkers may be of great importance compared to monitoring with single one. A comprehensive assessment by utilizing CA 125, CA 19-9, and CEA together to assess tumour burden was performed in cases with ovarian carcinoma. Researches demonstrated that combined recognition of many tumour markers could enhance the sensitivity as well as the efficiency of diagnosis and help in reduction of misdiagnosis ratio. It was revealed that, the combined usage of HE4 and CA125 enhanced the diagnostic efficiency. In addition, serum levels of HE4, CA125, CA19-9, and CEA was assessed in 458 cases with ovarian tumours to assess the diagnostic accuracy following combined usage of tumour markers in gynecological pelvic tumours. The current study aimed to determine the accuracy of adding CEA and CA19-9 to CA-125 in diagnosis of bilateral ovarian tumors. Biopsy of an ovary with suspecting ovarian cancer is usually not performed since a biopsy may spread cancer cells and results in a more advanced cancer. The current study was a prospective and retrospective trial conducted on female patients between 20 and 80 years old with bilateral ovarian tumors who were treated in Oncology Center Mansoura University and Meet Ghamr Oncology Center, within the period from July 2010 to July 2020 after gaining the approval from IRB faculty of medicine Mansoura University. |
