Abstract
• In elderly patients, in general, assessment of vitamin D status should be routinely done to detect those with vitaminD3 deficiency in need of adequate supplementation.
• Elderly patients should be counseled about adequate sun exposure to enhance vitamin D3 levels.
• Empirical vitamin D supplementation is recommended for elderly diabetic patients to improve their general condition if they are suffering from vitamin deficiency.
• Further follow up study on large scale size is recommended to show the assessment and effect of vitamin D3 on patient with DM and obesity and also the effect of weight lowering on vitamin D level is also recommended
