Abstract

This research, as the title suggests, proposes the syntactic tracing in the written production of Egyptian ELE university students belonging to three universities: Minia University, Cairo University and Ain Shams University, through a study comparative of the relative between Spanish and Arabic, their similarities and differences. Therefore, it presents the influence of the mother tongue, which in our case is Arabic, in the process of learning the relative in the Spanish language.
Our study is divided into two parts, the first is the theoretical framework in which we address a grammatical explanation of the elements they have in common and the differences between the relative ones, both in Spanish and in Arabic. The second part is a practical study that presents an analysis of the responses of university students to a series of questionnaires and diagnostic tests on relative sentences. The objective of this study is to know how the mother tongue, Arabic, influences when learning the relative ones in Spanish, since there are similarities and differences between the Spanish and Arabic languages, in the use of relative pronouns.
