Abstract
The present study aimed to use of vaginal examination, ultrasonography and cytological examination for diagnosis of endometritis. Use of hormonal treatment (PGF2α) and antibiotic treatment (Cefazolin, Ceftazidime and Cephalexin) for clinical and sub clinical endometritis. Evaluate the effect of the treatments those were used on the reproductive performance of dairy cows with endometritis.
A total number of 228 cows aged from 3-5years at 7-8 weeks postpartum were used. Cows were examined at first visit; in each cow a clinical examination of the reproductive tract was performed. Then bacteriological, cytological examination and reagent test strip tests were performed. All cows included in the study were reexamined two times later 10 days interval .The treatment program began after the first examination. All cows were inseminated artificially at first heat after ending of treatment program.
Vaginal examination: The nature of discharge was classified into four scores as: no discharge clear mucus (0), mucus with pus flecks (1), mucopurulent discharge (2) and purulent discharge (3).
